A spectacular and most impressive French 19th century Louis XIV st. Brèche Violette marble fireplace mantel with all original ormolu mounts. This fireplace mantel is made in the manner of the Hercules drawing room mantel in the Palace of Versailles. This monumentally scaled mantel is raised by elegant mottled supports to each side with impressive ormolu mounts of lion heads below beautiful scrolled foliate movements and striking and finely detailed overflowing cornucopias. At the center is a handsome and richly chased scrolled foliate ormolu mount of the head of Hercules wearing the Nemean lion skin. The top shelf displays a fine double mottled border and showcases the beautiful Brèche Violette marble. All original gilt throughout.
