A stunning pair of columns or a pair of terracotta stands painted with an oriental scene on one and a Japanese scene with two cranes in a pond and water lilies on the other. French work, late 19th-early 20th centuries. These decorative columns were probably arranged in verandas or conservatories. Signed and dated on each column “Marguerite 1896” and “Marguerite 1900”. Lack of gilding in the lower part on one of the two columns.
The dimensions are:
Height: 96cm (37.8in)
Diameter: 34.5cm (13.6in)
This pair of late 19th century painted columns are in good antique condition throughout with no signs of age. These very decorative and very well painted columns remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a very good and fine example. Beautifully and high quality painted !!!!
