In line with the baskets of flowers which often adorn the dishes of the potters of Soufflenheim, the decorator of this one offers a real floral and colorful fireworks. The dish is in glazed soil, traditional material of Alsatian usual ceramics. The decor on a light blue background, alive, is beautifully achieved. It is a work by Jean Gallon (pseudonym of Ernest Jean-Xavier Elchinger), inventive and daring potter who will be able to associate tradition and modernity in the production of Alsatian ceramics.
The dish is very decorative. It is in good condition, a friction is visible on the edge. He is signed in relief on his reverse. The abundant decor of colors and overlays is symptomatic of the aesthetic innovation work that Jean Galloon will lead throughout his career as a potter and his aesthetic contribution to the traditional production of Alsatian ceramics.
26cm in diameter, 3cm thick.
