The design is very much of the Bauhaus area showing great craftsmanship and as well as simple lines with a focus on functionality.
The wooden drawers are in a beautiful brown which almost looks like they were made from leather.
Each drawer revolves around a U-shaped steel bar and can be individually moved. The steel bar is attached at both ends to a hard wood base.
We believe the dividers on the inside of each drawer may have been a later addition. They are easily removable and the drawer bottoms could be covered with felt or paper.
There are some scratches, markings and paint drops on the top cover in line with the workshop environment they were in and adding to its industrial charm. Unfortunately, at some stage, someone (we assume an unappreciative apprentice) added some numbers with felt pen (“196 x 190”) on the second drawer from the bottom. We have decided to leave it as is and not restore the cabinet.
Ideal for anyone collecting Bauhaus designs, we believe this would make a great storage solution for arts and crafts hobbyists or even make a great spice cabinet due to its compact size.
