This is a French bronze metal square hinged lidded box. It depicts a lid decorated with an 19th century country relief scene of a romantic couple. The gentleman is hugging a lady while they are seated in the grass beside a tree. The relief is enhanced by a green guilloche border that framed the scene. A garland of bay leaves decorates the border of the lid. The side metal walls of the box are adorned with the relief of large ovals alternated with flowers and acanthus leaves pattern. Below this pattern, there is another relief of a garland made of arcs. The inside of the box is covered with an old linen fabric. Also the bottom of the base is covered with a relief of multiple branches of flowers.
