A 19th Century Majolica glazed ceramic begonia leaf plate by Griffen Smith & Hill. A nicely textured Etruscan majolica plate with overlapping green and brown leaves. Green and gold glaze on the reverse side. Makers mark stamped to underside. The largest and best known of the American majolica manufacturers was Griffen, Smith and Hill of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Circa 1879-1890.
