Natural Fiber & Copper
Tribal Figural Sculpture
Attributed to Franz Hagenauer
21″ Tall
Here is a wonderful figural sculpture of a tribal female dancer with copper neck and hair bandings. The grace and fluidity of this work is off the charts. The piece displays the supreme skill used to bind these fibers gracefully and then work the copper around them.
These tribal sculptures were very popular in the fifties and captured the romance of traveling to regions where modern life had not yet paved over other cultures. Naturally, female figural sculptures were the most desired of all. These feature prominently in Hagenauer’s output in the mid century period.
Sculpture is in very fine vintage condition. Light age appropriate wear throughout. This 21″ tall piece is truly monumental and makes a stunning addition to a credenza, table or desk!
This sculpture is the perfect eye-catcher for the interior of your NY penthouse, La Jolla beachfront or West Palm Beach estate!
