This a French bronze metal hand painted portrait vanity box. It depicts a quatrefoil shaped hinged lid that is decorated in the center with the portrait of a young lady. An orange color guilloche inset panel framed the portrait, then a relief of garlands of flowers embellish its border. The sides of the box are adorned with engraved diagonal bands and beads. The box is covered inside with a flower fabric.
